Ward Police Stations in Da Nang & Hoi An for Temporary Residence Registration (2026)

Where to register or confirm temporary residence as a foreigner in Da Nang and Hoi An: the police station address of each ward after the 2025 merger, ward office phone numbers, who must declare, how fast, and what to bring.

Every foreigner staying in Vietnam must have their temporary residence declared with the local ward police (công an phường). Hotels do it for you automatically, but if you rent an apartment or a house in Da Nang or Hoi An, your landlord has to do it. You may also need a temporary residence confirmation from the police for a residence card (TRC), a work permit or a bank. This guide lists the police station of every central ward after Da Nang’s 2025 reorganisation.

Ward police stations in Da Nang and Hoi An

Since 1 July 2025, district police no longer exist: temporary residence is handled by the police of your new ward. Show the Vietnamese name in the second column to your Grab or taxi driver.

All addresses are in Da Nang City. Police addresses follow Da Nang People’s Committee Decision 1786/QĐ-UBND (June 2025) on the new ward offices; Hòa Cường is confirmed on the ward’s own website, and Thanh Khê, An Khê and Hội An Đông on the ward police’s own pages. Ward office addresses and phone numbers were published by the Da Nang City Police newspaper (29 June 2025). Some wards use more than one building, so call the ward office before you go.

Which ward am I in?

Many wards were merged, so your old address may show a ward that no longer exists. A quick guide:

  • Hải Châu: the old Hải Châu 1 & 2, Thạch Thang, Thuận Phước, Phước Ninh, Nam Dương and Bình Hiên area (city centre, west bank of the Han River).
  • Hòa Cường: former Bình Thuận, Hòa Thuận Tây, Hòa Cường Bắc and Hòa Cường Nam.
  • An Hải and Sơn Trà: the east bank of the Han River, including the An Thượng / My Khe beach area popular with expats.
  • Ngũ Hành Sơn: former Mỹ An, Khuê Mỹ, Hòa Hải and Hòa Quý.
  • Hội An, Hội An Đông and Hội An Tây: the former Hội An city, now part of Da Nang (An Bàng and Cửa Đại beaches are in Hội An Đông).

Not sure? Ask your landlord, or type your street into Google Maps and check the ward name on a recent utility bill or rental contract.

Who must declare temporary residence?

Under Article 33 of Vietnam’s Law on Entry, Exit, Transit and Residence of Foreigners, the person who runs the place where you stay must declare you to the ward police. That means:

  • Hotels, hostels and homestays declare you automatically when you check in.
  • Landlords of apartments and houses must declare their foreign tenants.
  • If you stay with friends or family, the host declares you.

The declaration must be made within 12 hours of your arrival (24 hours in remote areas). It is free. It can be done online through the Ministry of Public Security’s public service portal, or on paper with form NA17 at the ward police station.

What to bring

  • Your passport with your current visa, e-visa printout or residence card, and entry stamp
  • The landlord’s ID card and proof of ownership or the rental contract
  • Form NA17 (temporary residence declaration for foreigners), filled in by the landlord, if declaring on paper

Getting a temporary residence confirmation

For a temporary residence card, a work permit, buying a SIM card or opening a bank account, you are often asked for proof that your residence has been declared. Ask your landlord to declare you first, then request the confirmed NA17 slip or a confirmation from the ward police listed above. Requirements vary by ward, so call ahead.

Your visa comes first

A residence declaration only works if your visa or visa-exempt stay is still valid. If your stay is ending, you need a new visa before anything else:

After a visa run you re-enter Vietnam, so your landlord has to declare you again when you return.
